Gauteng Load Shedding & Power Outages

South Africa has no open live feed, so the quickest way to check Gauteng is the official outage page from Eskom, City Power and City of Tshwane or another operator below.

Gauteng is South Africa's most populous province, and three metros distribute power here alongside Eskom: City Power, Tshwane and Ekurhuleni. In August 2026 Eskom said Gauteng accounted for more than half of its remaining load-reduction feeders and affected customers, but by November its load reduction page listed only KwaZulu-Natal. Gauteng municipalities owe 20% of Eskom's municipal arrears, with Emfuleni, Tshwane and Johannesburg in the top ten. Severe thunderstorms made up 37 of the 59 warnings from SAWS's Gauteng office between May 2025 and November 2026; that office also covers Mpumalanga and Limpopo.
