Biggest Alaska power outages since 2014

Statewide outage events recorded by DOE's EAGLE-I system since late 2014, with likely causes from NOAA storm reports

The largest power outage in Alaska since 2014 (Aug 24 – Sep 3, 2023) left as many as 66,842 customers (19.92% of the state) without power at once, driven by flooding. The next largest (May 14–17, 2023) peaked at 66,520 customers (Flooding).

By EAGLE-I's count, Alaska customers averaged about 6 hr 2 min without power per year from 2018 to 2025. The worst year was 2022, at 10 hr 22 min per customer.

Outages peak in December (20% of outage time). Outage time in Alaska has risen recently: about 7 hr 42 min per customer per year in 2022–2025, versus 4 hr 21 min in 2018–2021.
