Alberta Power Outages

Canada has no open live feed, so the quickest way to check Alberta is the official outage map from ENMAX, FortisAlberta and EPCOR or another operator below.

Four main distributors divide Alberta: FortisAlberta in the south and centre, ATCO Electric in the north and east-centre, ENMAX in Calgary and EPCOR in Edmonton, all reporting to the Alberta Utilities Commission. Thermal plants produced 83% of 2023 generation and wind 12%. The Alberta Electric System Operator came close to shedding load in extreme cold on January 13, 2024, when an emergency phone alert cut demand by about 350 MW, and it ordered 244 MW of load shed on April 5, 2024, the first since 2013.
