Northwest Territories Power Outages
Canada has no open live feed, so the quickest way to check Northwest Territories is the official outage map from Northwest Territories Power Corporation and Naka Power.
The NWT has no territorial grid: eight communities around Great Slave Lake use hydro on two regional grids, and most others rely on diesel. NTPC, a Crown subsidiary, delivers power to end users in 26 of 33 communities, and Naka Power distributes in Yellowknife and several smaller communities. Fuels produced 78% of 2023 generation and hydro 20%, and low water at Snare has forced more diesel use. The NWT Public Utilities Board regulates rates.
